Certificate in Islamic Studies

 
Level 1 (Online):
Day: Every Sunday
  • Lectures: 11:00am to 2:00pm
  • Q&A session (Optional) – 2:00pm to 2:30pm

This level consists of 6 modules:

Lecture notes will be provided.

Students will study Surah Al-Fatiha & Juz Amma (30th chapter of the Quran).

A clear, concise, and simplified summary will be presented of the hidden gems from over 10 classical Tafsir books, including: Tafsir At-Tabari, Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, At-Tafsir Al-Kabir, Tafsir Ruh Al-Ma’ani, plus others.

Contemporary issues will be discussed throughout the Quran.

Lecture notes will be provided.

The entire Al-Arbaeen An-Nawawiyyah and the beginning of Sahih Al-Bukhari will be studied.

Sahih Al-Bukhari will be studied straight after completing the Arbaeen (40 Authentic Hadith) compiled by Imam Nawawi رحمه الله.

The Arabeen contains a compilation of fundamental Hadiths which summarise our beautiful Deen.

A clear and simplified summary of the main points of each Hadith will be presented from the famous commentaries such as: Fath Al-Baari, Umdah Al-Qari, Irshaad As-Saari, plus others.

Lecture notes will be provided.

The famous Hanafi Fiqh book Noorul Idha, which has been taught throughout the world for centuries, will be covered.

A clear, concise and simplified explanation will be given covering the different chapters of Fiqh.

Additional pertinent points will be presented as and when needed from books such as: Maraaqi Al-Falaah, Fath Al-Qadeer, Kitab Al-Mabsoot, Radd Al-Muhtar, plus more.

Contemporary issues of Fiqh will be discussed and the latest research will be presented on the issues.

Evidence from the Quran and Sunnah will be presented at times on selected topics; this will be done to clear up any doubts one may have on disputed topics.

Lecture notes will be provided.

This subject will be studied for the first half of the academic year.

The main text covered in this course will be Bidayatul Hidayah of Imam Al-Ghazali رحمه الله but research from other texts will be provided too, such as, Ihya Uloom Ad-Deen, Risaalah Al-Qushairiyyah, Fathu Basaair Al-Ikhwan, Kashful Mahjoob, plus more.

Lecture notes will be provided.

This subject will be studied for the second half of the academic year.

The famous classical text Al-Aqeeda At-Tahawiyyah will be completed, along with notes summarising the main fundamental beliefs of the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’a, which Muslims have held for over 1400 years

There are two types of Q&A sessions that will take place: 

6.1 Class-related Q&A:

At the end of the final lecture of the day, there will be a Q&A session. This will allow students to ask any relevant questions they may have and ask for further explanation or clarity on any matter discussed during the lectures.

Attendance for this session will be optional as we understand that some students may not be able to attend due to time-constraints.

6.2 Q&A with Mufti:

This Q&A is a general Q&A session and students will be able to ask whatever questions they wish. This session will last up to 1 hour and will be held regularly every few weeks, subject to demand.  

Attendance for this session is optional.

Students will send in their questions in advance and each question will be answered and/or discussed.

This level consists of 5 modules:

Lecture notes will be provided.

The Tafsir of Surah Al-Baqarah and onwards will be covered.

A simplified and easy to understand summary will be presented of the hidden gems from over 10 classical Tafsir books, including: Tafsir At-Tabari, Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, At-Tafsir Al-Kabeer, Tafsir Ruh Al-Ma’ani, Tafsir Al-Baydawi, plus more.

Contemporary issues will be discussed as and when the topic is raised in the Quran.

Lecture notes will be provided.

Hadiths from Sahih Al-Bukhari will be studied.

A summary will be presented in a clear, simple and easy to understand way for each hadith.

A summary of the main points will be taken from the famous commentaries of Sahih Al-Bukhari, such as: Fath Al-Baari, Umdah Al-Qari, Irshaad As-Saari, plus others.

Lecture notes will be provided.

The classical text Noorul Idha will be continued.

A clear, concise and simplified study of the classical text will be covered.

Additional notes will be provided as and when needed from other classical books such as Maraqi Al-Falah, Fath Al-Qadeer, Al-Binayah, Rad Al-Muhtaar, Al-Fatawa Al-Hindiyyah, Kitab Al-Mabsoot, plus others.

Lecture notes will be provided.

The history from the beginning of creation onwards will be covered.

This will include the study of the lives of the Beloved Prophets عليهم الصلوة و السلام.
